Text messages

Last updated 21 October 2026

Businesses using CalendarLift can send text messages to their customers about appointments. This explains what those messages are, how to stop them, and what happens to a mobile number given to a business.

What is sent

Operational messages about an appointment somebody booked: a confirmation when it is made, a reminder before it happens, and a note when it is moved or cancelled. They come from the business, name the business, and carry a link for managing the appointment.

No marketing. CalendarLift does not send promotional text messages and does not provide a way for a business to send them through it.

How often

Message frequency varies, because it follows appointments rather than a schedule. A customer with one appointment typically receives a confirmation and one reminder. Somebody who books repeatedly receives messages about each booking.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply, depending on the mobile plan.

Stopping them

Reply STOP to any message. It takes effect immediately and permanently, across every kind of message from that business — not just the one that prompted it. The business cannot undo it, because it did not grant that permission and cannot withdraw the withdrawal.

Reply HELP for help. Appointments can still be managed by the link in a confirmation email, and by contacting the business directly.

Consent

Text messages are sent only to people who asked for them. The booking form asks explicitly, with a checkbox that is not ticked by default, and a booking goes through whether or not it is ticked. Giving a business a phone number is not, on its own, consent to be texted on it.

Mobile numbers

Mobile numbers are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing. A number given to a business is held for that business, used to contact that customer about their appointments, and processed by the messaging provider that delivers the message. Nothing else.

Where this applies

Text messaging is currently offered to businesses operating in the United States, sending to US mobile numbers.
